Introduction: confession time, I cheated for today and tomorrow’s stories. I’m off to a wedding and it’s generally considered rude to start typing during the ceremony, so I’ve had to dive into the ‘here’s one I did earlier’ pile. In fact, today and tomorrow’s are linked, and are part of what I hope to one day make a longer series about the day the monsters came.

The Last Thing She Saw
Introduction: I fucking love slasher films. Give me a bunch of dumbass teens being chopped up for 90 minutes, and I’m probably going to have a good time, regardless of quality. This story, which was inspired by the prompt alarm, is my attempt to capture a bit of that slasher magic, enjoy.
Continue reading “The Last Thing She Saw”Dear Anna
Introduction: if I’m honest, today’s story is a load of nonsense. My prompt was the first two words, and it spiralled out from there. Hopefully, it’s funny nonsense rather than nonsense nonsense, but only you can decide whether that’s the case. Enjoy.

Introduction: another day, another story. We’re nearly a third of the way through the month, and this is getting harder. I’ve no idea how good these are, but if you’ve read any of them, I can only thank you. It genuinely means a lot that you’d take some time out of your life to engage with my inane shite. Anyway, today’s prompt is a simple one: love.
Continue reading “Where Did It All Go Wrong?”My Broken Fairies
Introduction: I love fairy tales. However, what I love even more is writers who break fairy tales, ripping up the rules to mess with your expectation. This is my attempt to do exactly that, inspired by today’s prompt: fairy. I hope you enjoy it.

Introduction: today’s prompt is the first sentence of this story, so I shan’t spoil it for you. If I’m honest, I’m not entirely pleased with the ending to this one, but as I’ve set myself this damn challenge, I don’t have time to sit and stew on it. So, it will have to go out as it is, and perhaps one day I’ll come up with something better and replace it. Sadly, that’s not today, and I think there is still enough in there to provide enjoyment.
Continue reading “The World’s Worst Date”The Door In The Wall
Introduction: today’s story is a slight cheat, as here’s one I wrote earlier. I’ve got a busy Sunday between work and a wrestling show, so I’ve dipped into the archives. Rereading it, it definitely shares a thematic resemblance to The Beast Behind The Curtain which probably reveals something about me. Still, I hope it’s different enough to still give you some pleasure, enjoy.

Introduction: um, okay. Today’s prompt was squirrel. There is no squirrel in this story. I started planning one thing and then it went in a very different direction which, I admit, defeats the purpose of using prompts. A story is a story, though, right? This one is longer than all the others because I got carried away, but I hope it’s enjoyable all the same.
Continue reading “The Woods Know Everything”Murderous Talk
Introduction: today’s story is a bit different as I took the prompt, conversation, quite literally. If you are offended by swearing, murder and horrible people, then you might want to give this a miss. It’s possible I got a bit carried away, although I like to pretend it’s also quite funny. Enjoy.
Continue reading “Murderous Talk”There’s A Storm Coming
Introduction: it’s day three of my short story experiment and this is going alright so far. The hardest thing has been getting the length right. I’m aiming for around 500 words, but it’s easy to either spin a yarn that threatens to become an epic or struggles to get past two paragraphs. Anyway, today’s one-word prompt was weather, which for reasons known only to my brain, brought to mind that classic story set-up of two people meeting on a lonely road. Why? Fuck knows, but here’s where it brought me.
